Screenshot & screen-recording protection

Stop clients screenshotting your proofs.

ProofProtect galleries block screenshots and screen recordings at the device level. Your client sees every proof clearly; the capture comes back as a black frame. No plugin, no gimmick watermark on a file anyone can save.

  • Screenshots come back black
  • Screen recordings come back black
  • Per-viewer watermark on every proof
  • Right-click and downloads blocked

The problem

A watermark alone doesn't stop the screenshot.

Most online proofing galleries protect a photo by stamping a logo on it and hoping. A client presses two buttons, crops the corner, and your proof is a phone wallpaper, a social post, or the print they never ordered.

Disabling right-click helps with desktop browsers, but it does nothing about the screenshot shortcut, the phone's screen recorder, or a screen-capture app. That's where most proofs actually leak.

How it works

Device-level capture protection, built into every gallery.

ProofProtect displays each proof through a protected viewing path that the device's own screenshot and screen-recording tools can't read. The client looks at the photo normally. The capture tool gets an empty frame.

It's the same kind of hardware-backed protection built into modern phones, tablets and computers — applied to your proofs, automatically, the moment you upload them. There's nothing for you to configure per gallery.

  • Screenshots on iPhone, iPad and Mac return a black frame
  • Built-in screen recorders capture the same black frame
  • Protection is on for every proof in every gallery, on every plan
  • Right-click, drag-to-save and download buttons are blocked

Dynamic watermarks

A watermark that names the viewer.

Every proof carries a watermark with the signed-in viewer's email address and the current time, drifting gently across the image. Cropping a corner doesn't remove it, because it isn't in a corner.

If someone photographs the screen with a second phone — the one thing no software can fully stop — the copy is visibly degraded, shows moiré, and identifies exactly who was looking.

For your clients

Nothing to install on Apple devices.

On iPhone, iPad and Mac, clients open the gallery link in Safari or Chrome and they're in. On Windows and Android, they view through the ProofProtect viewer app, which keeps the same protection in place and takes a minute to install.

Each client signs in once with their email, so you always know who opened a gallery, and the watermark always knows who to name.

Honest limits

What capture protection can't do.

No software can stop a determined person pointing a second camera at the screen. ProofProtect's goal is to remove every easy path — the screenshot, the screen recording, the right-click save — and make the remaining one obvious, ugly and traceable.

In practice that's enough to stop the casual leaks that cost photographers the most: proofs shared before the order, used as profile pictures, or printed at a kiosk.

Can clients take a screenshot of a ProofProtect gallery?

They can press the buttons, but the screenshot of a protected proof comes back black. In the browser, the rest of the page — buttons, captions, your branding — captures normally, so it's obvious the photo itself is the thing being protected.

Does it stop screen recording too?

Yes. The built-in screen recorders on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and screen-capture tools on Windows and Android while the viewer app is open, see the same black frame where the proof should be.

Do my clients need to install anything?

Not on iPhone, iPad or Mac — the gallery opens in Safari or Chrome. On Windows and Android, clients install the free ProofProtect viewer app once, which keeps the protection in place.

Can someone still photograph the screen with another phone?

Yes, and we won't pretend otherwise. A photo of a screen looks noticeably worse, picks up moiré, and shows the viewer's email and the time from the watermark — so it's both unappealing and traceable.

Does protection make my photos look worse to clients?

No. Clients see a sharp, full-screen proof with a light watermark. The protection only affects what capture tools can read, not what the viewer sees.
